Alloy Type 9 Phil Jones/Quaife g/box

For sale is my Type 9 straight cut, close ratio gearbox (not a dog box) originally built by Phil Jones. (Clubman) No use since full rebuild.

The box comes complete with a Quaife alloy maincase and also the Quaife alloy top cover which saves 5kg over the steel maincase and costs nearly £500 on their own!

It’s got a set of Quaife internals built around a Ford mainshaft and has just been fully rebuilt with new synchros with zero miles since.

It has the following ratios.

1st – 2.39
2nd – 1.69
3rd – 1.21
4th – 1.1
5th – 0.87

Ideal fast road/hill climb/sprint box.

Price reduced to £800 for quick sale! The gearkit on it's own would cost £700, the maincase & top cover would be another £500 and that's before it's all been put together.

U2U or call on 07973 808363.

Cheers
Matt

Hi mate,

Is the bellhousing integral on these? I presume its the standard type 9 bellhousing either way.

Hi

It is definitely the separate bell housing type. As per the type 9 setup.

Cheers Matt. At Procomp not Custardtart.

According to the Quaife site, it is only recomened for 190bhp, which is what i'm chucking out at the moment and leaves no room for improvement, shame.

Sadly the Pro box which is rated to 275BHP is about £3K Upgrading to 200bhp + is expensive, most people forget they'll need a new g/box too!

I did see a Pro box 2nd hand over the summer but it went for £1800 and they don't come up that often sadly.

I'm pretty sure it's only the main shaft thats different(Quaife make their own), i'll have a chat with my mate who builds them and get back to you, does it come with a quickshift/gearstick

Yep the pro has a quaife mainshaft but it also has needle roller bearings!

I'll get in touch with Procomp and see if the stick is still on, the new box I bought had a quaife stick that we might not be using.
