FS - Ideal tow vehicle? 1996 Pajero 2800 TD

Hi all

My Pajero is up for grabs - Lovely little truck.

It's on ebay at the moment but here's the general info in case anyone is interested, I can end the auction accordingly.

Before we start this is a 14 year old truck so she isn't going to win any shows...

For Sale - 1996 Mitsubishi Pajero SWB 2800TD. I bought it a few months ago with a view to using it as a daily driver but have now moved about 15 miles further away from my workplace and am finding the 70 mile round trip a little costly in this beast. I was planning on running a little Pug diesel and keeping this for sunday best but that would be a waste of a lovely truck.

Mechanically it is very good, the kilometers are high (200K+) but you wouldn't guess from the way it drives. The truck starts on the button every time and purrs along like a contented cat, the gearbox is smooth and the autodrive works faultlessly as does the kick down.

I spent some time and money fixing some of the inherant faults with the 4M40 motor. The EGR valve has been blanked off, the fuel pump main bearing seal has been replaced (not cheap to get done) and the glo plugs have been tested and cleaned up as has the bus bar. It has also had a new fuel filter and a set of belts. I also had to replace the oil pressure switch as it started to leak.

Overall it is in good condition for the year with only a little spot of rust on the rear door the passenger door has obviously had some work as the paint isn't very smooth. The A bar has been removed as it was damaged so there are holes in the bumper for a replacement part to be sourced. I replaced the lower rear door hinge.

The interior is in good condition overall with a few blemishes here and there, the drivers seat isn't ripped or worn but is a bit saggy. A good valet will see it looking pretty darn good.

The tyres are Ok - they have about 5 or 6mm left.

The interior electrics work well, the aircon could do with a top up but the climate control generally does what it says on the tin. Windows go up and down, mirrors in and out etc the only other issue I can think of is that the electric ariel doesn't go up and down, The radio isn't great and the CD is tempremental but if the car is sold on buy it now (or for £1300) then I'll leave a Kenwood stereo with six disk autochanger in it.

The paperwork is all good plus a bit of extra in the way of history. The truck is in Helston, Cornwall. If that is a bit far for you then I might be able to meet the buyer in Exeter.
