unregistered dax rush

For sale is my built but unregistered 2.0l Dax Rush. £7000

Spec:

De Dion rear suspension
Independent front suspension
GAZ adjustable suspension all round
Sierra uprights
Reconditioned Sierra disc brakes all round
2.0l C20XE engine, 150hp as standard
Ford type 9 gearbox
zx9r carburettors, bogg bro manifold, pipercross air filter
Megajolt fully mappable ignition control
Large dax sport radiator
Custom stainless steel exhaust
triton race products GRP bucket seats
Full set of Smiths motorsport gauges
17" tsw alloys, nearly new toyo rubber
Premier wiring loom
bright-6 warning lights
Led rear lights
Aerocatch fuel filler
Complete Dax GRP body panels + bonnet scoop

Work needed:

The car has been for IVA, for which I have the associated paperwork. It should be possible to retest the car for £90 at the Derby VOSA station without incurring a new test fee (£450).

The car requires a small amount of finishing work, including properly securing wing mirrors + centre mirror and securely attaching some rubber trim.

The main issue is with emissions. These are fine at idle, but are around 5-6% CO at fast idle. There are two ways to deal with this. If you can prove the engine was built before 1995 this only needs to be reduced to 3.5%. If not then this must be reduced to 0.2%. The exhaust has got a cat fitted so this could be achieved by changing the main jets, the carbs themselves or indeed the engine.

I am open to offers on the £7000 asking price.

also open to p/x

I've moved out to university now and just don't have the time or funds to jump through VOSAs hoops.

I really need a useable car to get around and the Dax seems to be the easiest route to release the necessary funds.

I'll probably get a 1.6 205 gti and invest the rest of the money. Quite interested in putting a m45 supercharger onto the 1.6 engine when I have time again.

Genuinely don't want to sell though as it seems so close to being finished, and I feel like I'm letting my old man down as he's put in so many hours and not even driven the thing.

it'll take me another year just to get it through IVA if I use the holidays. The IVA mans comment that I should get it totally sorted before I bring it back as it was "embarrassing for everyone involved" that it had failed twice was the straw that broke the camels back.

If anyone is interested, don't be worried about making me an offer. I'm open minded - its worth what someone will pay.

Hi brookie,

the car needs the wing mirrors and central mirror securing and some trim attaching more securely.

It has wing mounted indicators as per IVA but they are rubbing as there is not enough space for the cabling under the wheel arches. Should be rectified by slightly bending the wing stays or just letting a bit of pressure out of the tyres perhaps??

Other than that it's just the emissions issues discussed above and I'm happy to have a chat with any prospective owner about the options moving forward of which there are a few.

The other biggies like brake efficiency, self centering and noise have all be sorted.

I can't face selling it! I'm genuinely pretty down about it.

I haven't really got anywhere but its a time vs funds issue now more than anything else.

And I'm desperate for a proper daily driver now too.

Its a simple case of need forces sale. When I'm a doctor I'll buy a factory built caterham

Although I'm very sorry to see you falling at the final hurdle, Craig - I can understand your needs. I recently finished 3 years of getting my youngest though Oak Hill college in London - it is a very expensive time and your spare time will be swallowed whole - even the holidays - you have to decide where your priorities lie - you have many years to play at 'big boys toys' when you are qualified!

Your build has been slightly quicker than mine - I am on the 'finishing touches' which are likely to take a few months before I have to jump those hoops.

Your car looks fantastic in the photos and is a credit to you and your dad - I hope you get a good wad for it, but I think a few people will be shy of buying it due to the IVA hassles.

I wish you the best of luck with selling it, go get that qualification, earn pots of money as a brain surgeon, then build yourself an Ultima!

Best Regards, Steve.

Im gutted just seeing this for sale Finish it, find some spare time, then drive it, and then decide whether to sell or keep. Can you not pay someone to sort out the problems? Maybe even someone will take on the work on here for the fun of it?

its mainly lack of funds that forces sale ed.

anyone interested in making an offer over £6000?

bearing in mind someone is trying to sell their first two build packs for £4500!
