WHF 5 star winner for several years running until it was superceeded by the Debut 3 last year. Quite a few reviews online

What did you replace it with David?

Thorens, Linn...?

Always had a thing for high end turntables and the engineering that goes into them.

Roksan Radius (mk1) with Rega RB250 tonearm. Ortofon 2M Black cart.

And a few mods:
New isolating suspension
New inner platter
New bearing
New off board power supply
upgraded counterweight
New feet
New Belt

Looking at rebuilding the arm with better pivot and bearings, along with an internal and external rewire.

I couldnt stretch as far as a Xerxes or Sondek...

There is something very satisfying about a decent turntable, its all mechanical and there are endless small changes you can make that really do make a difference to the sound in one way or another.

Certainly more interesting and engaging than a box with a drawer (CD player) or a box with no drawer (MP3 player).

nice to see people still into the "proper" hi fi

I used to work for Rega when I lived in Southend, then moved to a place in Rayleigh, the people moving out were ruark acoustics, and in more recent years I developed and produced some display lighting that goes int he front of Naim Audio units

There is a lot of vinyl still available, obviously all the new stuff is digitally mastered these days, but even so 90% of it still sounds good with around 50% being excellent.

I looked at the Rega decks (P5 specifically) but decided the Roksan would be a better match...

My main system is now:
Roksan Kandy K1 Liii amp
Roksan Kandy K2 CDP
Roksan Radius Mk1 TT
Acoustic Energy AE2 speakers and stands
BK Elec XXLS400 Sub

And I am pretty happy with it Sounds ok to me.

Used to sell these, and no word of a lie the sound I got from one of these sounded better than my Naim CDX!

They are a great sounding TT without a doubt even with the stock cart fitted.

I am still impressed with how good it is with my current system....

I just replaced my old turntable with a Project Debut 3 and it is really impressive for the price. I'm of an age where most of my music is on vinyl. I have CD's and a decent player but you just can't beat vinyl.
