Insurance

Guys

Its about time i got the Avon insured.
Who are the 'good' companies, and who should i steer away from?

Any ploicies that let you haver the car covered all year, but for the winter months its covered only in the garage?

Dont see the point in paying a premuim to have it in the garage for 6 months of the year....

Also, what are the typical mileages people are getting a year?

Thanks a lot

Vince

Have you sva 'ed it yet?
I got mine insured to drive it to sva.
Adrian Flux only give you 30 days to get the car sva'ed and provide a Reg number before cancelling your policy and retaining ALL of your premium!
They do sometimes extend the policy for a further 14 days.
I took out my insurance with them but I was tipped off before it started.
Originally Flux quoted £500 then dropped it to £279 when I explained that Russ Bost's twin kwaka was only £279 (limited to 3000 miles).
I cancelled and went with Footman James and got my insurance down to £205 for the same cover.
FJ also do build cover for £90 per year.

Ok fly in the ointment time

I had a quote from Footman James for my V8 Viento of £680 , also they wouldn't do an agreed value policy.

Graham Sykes £251

Eventually went with Adrian Flux for £233

With 3000 mile limit and agreed value

Sureterm where not far off the mark either.

Cheers

Dave

Just had my quotes to start 01 April..
Footman James £270
Graham Sykes £164
Adrian Flux £133
HIC £220
Roadsure £210
Sureterm £185
AFlux was £165 but I took the recovery off as I already had the RAC.

Ive had very good comms with Osbourne & Sons. Maybe not the cheapest for some but i have had competiive quotes and find them very sensible to deal with.

I caused an issue this time in that i didnt return the docs within 7 days. I recieved a reminder which i inadvertently ignored. Finally got a letter saying policy would be cancelled and i had to go elsewhere. Sent the docs that night, phoned them to explain. Got a call today confirming receipt and that all is well again with the policy. They were very understanding. Were also great with me at SVA stage ref getting reg number.

Always play one off against another. That is why mine is down from £500 to £205.
I think mine could be slightly higher than most because I live in London and there is not another similar car to work from.

remember, age/convictions/mileage/value/postcode of car make huge differences...

just insured my £2.5k value, 1.5k miles a year locost with Adrian Flux fully comp for £142, with legal cover and personal injury.

Definitely ring one, get a quote (£166 in this case from A FLux), get ref no, ring another (in this case Graham Sykes) who will ask what your best quote is, and get quote again (£165, £1 less the cheeky bastards) then go back to the 1st and they will "speak to the manager". In my case they took their admin charge off and it came out at £142.

A saving of £23, enough for a tank of fuel, a pint and a mucky egg butty on the next track day!!
