Type 9 to crossflow CLUTCH query

Hello All,

Got my Type 9 Gearbox ready to fit my 1600 crossflow. I knew the spline shaft on the type 9 was a larger diameter than the old Escort 4 speed box and I knew I would need a new clutch. Question is does the pressure plate for a Sierra clutch fit the crossflow?. Or do i just need a new friction plate to fit the Type 9 spline shaft.

Thanks

Simon

You just need the 190mm/23spline friction plate from the early Sierra (82-84 ish).

You could use the existing clutch cover with a Sierra or Hillman Avenger driven plate however just buy a complete a "3in1" Sierra 1300/1600 190mm (7.5" clutch kit as it will probably be cheaper.
