Motivation Near Wellingborough?

I feel my build slowing due to a lull in motivation and £'s. As I am daddy day care in the evenings anyone local fancy a trip to wollaston to show me theirs (ooo err) and discuss my progress in a positive manner! I'll even make a brew!

Can't help you with face-to-face motivation or the £'s but........

GET YOUR BLOODY ARSE BACK IN THAT GARAGE AND FINISH THE SODDING BUILD!

I was spending more time on the haynes forum with some pictures.
Its a shame but that forum seems to be quiet at the minute with lack of posts and replies etc, so I am now joining your ranks!
I'll get some pictures up.

Build Status is
Chassis nearlly fully welded up.
Will need paint soon.
I have all my suspension and uprights etc ready to go and have built up a couple of corners to make sure it all fits.
Steering column and wheel is in.
Diff has been in and out.
Engine has been in and engine moutns made.
half mounted my radiator.
Have build a megajolt but not fired it up yep. Have edis bits in a box!

Would love to start my engine but can't make up my mind on the inlet.

Will get a photo archive up when I take some pictures

I know what you mean about the daddy daycare bit. Our baby is 3 months old now.
When I got home from work yesterday, my wife was waiting at the front door and handed me the baby before I'd even put my keys down!
Working on the kit is quite tricky now. But my wife has started going to bed at 10pm so I then sneak into the garage for an hours building (or just looking at it thinking what to do next)

If you search, there may be an hour here and there that you can use. Even if you only weld up one tube a day it's still progress.

Dead right mate... Little and Often WILL get it built.
However small the step, its a step in the right direction.

My mistake on the section.
Offering a free cup of tea though!

The wife works nights so we do a 10 minute handover.
Once the project is out of the noisy phase I can get more done at night, I just need that push to get the chassis and basic a panelling complete.

I've seen 2 or 3 pictures now of completed haynes roadsters. What are peoples views on the finished products? With the MK body work they look good, like a MK really!

Would you still build a locost now the haynes roadster is about?

I like the original locost as it’s very much in the style of the lotus, they certainly suite the narrow tyres and 1300 engines. Panelling is an enjoyable job and makes a big difference to the appearance of the car, just don't go nuts with the rivets, a 1000 holding on a thin panel is totally pointless and just weakens the frame. One of nice things about these cars is that you can do a lot indoors if the wife lets you…then later put it all together (I keep my motor bike in the kitchen for the same reason, much nicer to work on ). Simply set a job to do each week like the brakes or lights and stick to that rather than jump about, it will come together surprisingly quickly and that’s how I tackled my bug rust bucket, just worked from front to back, if I’d jumped about I’d have go sick of it and scrapped the car.

They start about 8 o'clock, the Manor is child friendly, and we'll talk to anyone.
