Go pro black help!!?

Bought a go pro off groupons from that company with the worst reviews in the world.. (Only found this out after)

Anyways... I can't get the go pro to actually record a video, every video is corrupt! I've tried 2 different SD cards and it will not work! So frustrated now, does anyone have pointers or had similar problems?

sounds to me the the the play back device / programe may not be compatible with the format that the vidio has been recordeded in. there are lots of different compresion for even the same file type ( EG .MP4 ) you need to have somthing that will uncompress and open the File.

I have founf VLC ? player good at this.

but dont have a go pro so only a guess

What speed are your sd cards ?

Go pro needs class 10 cards otherwise this will lead to corruption.

for playback and device control download the free app, and the free editing suite. The app will let you make sure that your device is working, as it shows a live screen feed.

The editing suite does just that,. and includes playback, title editing etc.

as above though, check the speed of your cards, or try recording at the lowest resolution and frame rate, or just take some still shots,. see if they work.

Iirc these cameras had no serial numbers? If so no chance with warranty support. If it does have a serial number you should be able to get support from Gopro

If they don't have serial numbers, then they are probably fake!

I've never heard of a fake GoPro, but if you go here you'll find as much help as you're likely to get. http://goprouser.freeforums.org/index.php Chances are it'll be something simple

As above.. for HD recording you need a class 10 card. Note that not even all class 10 cards are equal. i bought one of the Samsung cards recommended by GoPro just to make sure there would be no issues.

if you dont have a class 10 card try settings the resolution, and fps to as low as it will go on the camera, as you dont need as fast a card at lower quality. If it all works fine then you know the camera records ok, and that it will be the speed of the card that is the issue

I bought 2 from that Groupon deal. Both work well and have serial numbers.
The only annoying thing is the leads are very short and trying to find a 10 pin mini usb lead is nigh on impossible.

i got one from the group on deal too. it has a serial and works fine. did you install the phone app and watch the vids back on your phone direct from the camera. also make sure you have the latest firmware loaded onto the camera. you can either do it with the phone app or download the firmware onto the computer and do it with the usb cable.

as for the company being crap well they sold 1000 go pros in a morning everyone i know that ordered them got them in a couple of days and to be honest i have only seen about 2-3 complaints that i found on-line. its not perfect but its not a bad percentage for how many they sold.

if i recall correctly i think the newest firmware has improvements to support even more memory cards, although as others have said it must be class 10.

i have 32gb sandisk ultras and extreems they both work fine also have a cheap lexar 32gb class 10 card and that works ok too. even a crap 2gb card i found from an old phone seemed to work and that was a class 6. what brand/class are the cards you currently have?
