quick steering rack

Hello here,
I havea sierra based mk indy ( I bought it all ready built) and has a very "long" steering rack (I have fitted a small steering wheel) and I need almost 4 turns from side to side which is alright for road use.
I usse the car only on track (circuit) and I needa short steering rack (2.4 turns)
I have found 2.4 steering racks from escorts etc but not from a sierra.
Would an escort steering rack fit my sierra donor MK?
Any suggestions on where can I find one in a reasonably price?
Thanks in advance

quaife do a rack and pinion kit for the sierra rack though its a 2.8 turns lock to lock not a 2.4 £89.00 on their website although you will need to fit this to your existing rack assy and it may require shortening aswell to fit the shortened rack on the mk

A pint for the gent and a white wine/fruit based drink for the lady. Those are the rules

and how all that shortening can be carried out ?
by cutting it and weld it again?
is this quaife kit the same for all sierra racks or I need to specify exactly which I ve got.
I would preffer a new one which fits without any additional work just plug and play really..

Try MK I think they sell modified quick racks.

But bear in mind if you have a small steering wheel and then fit a quicker rack the effort required to steer will be higher....

Probably not a problem but worth bearing in mind!!!

No it's not cut and weld, the rack is shortened by the required amount on I think from memory the left hand side then a new hole is drilled and threaded to take the rack extention, being case hardened not a DIY job

I dont mind the steering to become harder cause I am using the car only on track so no problem there..
I do mind to cross my hands twice in order to avoid spin though... if you know what I mean...
