Part-Worn Slicks

Further to my post in regards to selling Part-Worn Michelin Exalto PE2 Tyres

I am also able to obtain part-worn slick tyres also.

As with the origin of the PE2s, these are used in various UK race Championships for either one race, testing or practise etc. The photos below indicate what I would consider to be the 'average' condition of the slicks that I can obtain.

As with all race tyres there is a fair amount of pickup on the tyres due to the nature of their use, but this will obviously vary depend on the conditions at the time of the race, but, regardless, will all come off within the first few miles of use anyway.

Some photos:

The ones in the image below are Dunlop 17" slicks but the slicks I have in stock could be Michelin, Dunlop or Avon.

So, what sizes can I supply:

13" Slicks
160, 200, 230, 240 wide. Maybe some 185’s coming in future. Maybe wets available

15" Slicks
15” slicks are Michelin 19/57 x 15 or Dunlop 185/58 x 15 both equivalent of a 195/50/15

17" Slicks
205/62 x 17. Maybe wets available
235 or 240/61 x 17

18" Slicks
240 or 250 all the way up to 310 wide!

Compounds
The compounds vary, but all are from 'circuit racing' so not as soft as those used for hillclimbs and sprints. If you want these for track days then they will be spot on. If you are after some specifically for hillclimbs or sprints then let me know first and I will see what I can pull out

Price and Delivery
Slicks vary in price dependant on size and width. Please ask for a price on anything not quoted below -

13" Slicks (any width) - £110 collected / £135 delivered

15" Slicks (any width) - £210 collected / £235 delivered

17" Slicks (205 width) - £160 collected / £185 delivered

Deliveries are normally sent out twice a week so unfortunately I cannot promise anything better than, at the quickest a 72 hour turnaround - however if tyres are required urgently please contact me and I will see what I can do.

Collection is available from Huddersfield on evenings or weekends (HD9 potcode).

Stock
Currently (5th February) I've only got a few set of the 15" slicks in stock but plenty of the others.

Do the sizes on radial slicks relate to the widths like they do on normal road radials?

so for example on my 6x13" wheels id fit a 185, and on an 8x13" wheel id fit a 200?

£200+ for part worn 15" slicks? isnt that rather steep?

you can quite happily pick up sets of ebay for a lot less
I got 4 15" dunlops with tonnes of life left for £41 posted

Hi Davey,

for those you'd need a pair of 16/53x13 (front) and 20/54x13 (rear). These are Michelins and I have a set in stock.

anddd.... breath.....

jesus calm you're self down

I didnt say it was ebay or quickquid.
Nor did I make a bid on you're tyres.
I was just pointing out to people that they can be had alot cheaper and I doubt many people are desperate to buy slicks at this time of year and can therefore hold out for a bargain elsewhere.

Obviously you aren't too confident in you're customer base if you're getting rather defensive about me telling people they can get slicks a hell of a lot cheaper.

on the other hand when you need some more slicks and can't find anyone giving them away on eBay I will happily steal your money

yes, thought so

this is the intenet by the way... enjoy

you can get them for less on ebay but so what? there usually rock hard and shagged from overuse and incorrect storage. id hedge my bets towards an lcb member unless i was damm sure the ebay ones were good!
for reference the circuit slicks radical sell are over £200 a corner, plus vat plus post! i may go for some avons if you get any decent ones anytime. 190-535 front 250-570 rear or similar!

Dave,

I am interested in a set for my spare wheels, just trackdays in the Fury.

I'm not sure on sizes but currently have 185/60 & 205/60 R13 on some 6J rims road tyres, if you currently have anything avaliable?

Cheers

Chris

Hi Chris,

I've got a set of 200 wide Yokohamas or Michelins that would be suitable for you.

I note you've got narrower fronts at the moment but for track days having 200 wide all-round would be more than suitable (assuming space isn't an issue at the front).

As the initial post, they'd be £110 collected or £135 delivered

Will I be able to get enough heat into the fronts that wide? As my temp's are fairly balanced at the moment, having never used slicks on a car before its new terretory for me. I'm only running a 919 blade so not a huge amount of power or weight.

Hi Chris, you'll be fine. These are a fairly soft compound so as long as you're driving hard enough they'll warm up quickly.

If you've never tried slicks before you'll think you're driving a different car.

a 200 front is very wide on a car like that. my radical only runs 175 or 190 mm. a 200mm slick has 200mm (flat) tread width so will probably be 230mm to 240mm wide in total. id be looking at 160 front 180-200 rear but thats just my opinion.
also slicks have massively different camber settings between makes. dunlops and avons are massively different.
what settings are you running chris? (neadles)
if your running big negative camber on the front then dunlop radials may be a good option, avon radials run less negative camber.

Ok thanks for the replies, I think I need a bit more research before jumping in, Dave when I know what I need I'll give you a shout to see if you can accommodate? Its my cheapest upgrade due to a new baby this year so the R1 is out of the picture therefore I need to get it about right.

Cheers
