Which Nosecone?
Would any one recomend a good looking nosecone for my Ron's Book locost?
I like the look of the DAX ? Any links or suggestions appreciated :-)

As far as I know Dax do not sell components, and if they do, they're unlikely to sell to someone who's not building a Dax .They'll
be extortionate either way.

Dax chassis are deeper than book chassis so their panels probably won't fit anyway. I read somewhere on here that Triton/gts are the same panels
so you pays your money and takes your choice.

Triton nosecone yes. Nice shape and quality, designed for the book chassis too.
I just got home from a visit to their workshop this afternoon, only 1/2 an hour away from me as it happens. Lovely.
They don't keep stock, just make to order from their moulds.
My new nosecone will be ready in a week or so.
I understand GTS also sell the Triton fibreglass for the same price. GTS probably keep stock?

I expect to get the go ahead to collect my new (lemon yellow) nosecone tomorrow from Triton. Might be Monday I suspect. Actually from Steve the GRP
man. He appears to be frantically busy. Which is a good sign I think.
I'll post a pic here for info when I get it.

Do you know if they make any non-standard width nosecones at Triton? I'm building a +4" chassis (book otherwise) and need a nosecone,
bonnet and wings.

I don't know but they do make all sorts of nice stuff. I saw at least one other different 7 type nosecone mould there.
However I know some of the moulds were developed on specific commissions for different clients and you'll find they are not available to us.
Do ask but I wouldn't really expect them to have exactly what you need. Give them a call, you never know. The GRP man works alone so go
through Mark or Darren to avoid spoiling production.
Nevertheless from what I saw I'd say they could almost certainly develop anything you want to a high standard.
The downside for a one off is you'd have to pay to develop the buck and mould too. That would be cheaper of course if you can whip up a market
for a bulk order.
Or maybe there's a ready supply elsewhere?

Thanks Dave, I may well give them a call.
I was hoping that due to the increasing popularity of the +4" chassis, someone might have begun making suitable nosecones. I'd hate to
have to buy one just so that I could cut it in half and add in a 4" strip! I know others have done just this but I'd like to avoid it if
possible.

craig; we might be in the market for a +4 nosecone and other bits.. I think you know why 
I was thinking of having a bash at fibreglassing myself, maybe I'm biting off far more than I can chew but I've been reading up on it and
it doesn't seem all that bad apart from the mould making.
Been toying with the idea of an all-in-one nose and bonnet in GRP with V8 power bulges to suit whatever carb setup we end up with, inspired by some
flip-up designs I've seen on this forum. I'll let you know if I go anywhere with this, although I expect you'll be SVA'd
before we're rolling

Hi Andy,
I'm afraid I have purchased from Lolocost before and thus I am unlikely to purchase from them again. This seems to be a common phenomenon and
you may read into that whatever you wish...
Let's just say I want a decent quality nosecone and leave it at that.

Dave - What's the distance, on your chassis, between LC and the nosecone brkt centreline? (Smart looking example in your pic).

I've been strugling to fit a genuine Westfield nosecone to my car for a week or so. I got to the stage where Sod It - buy a decent one.
The Westy one came from a crashed car and is twisted and it ain't gunna come straight. I also need to know the distance between the uppermost
part of the GTS nose cone and the chassis (usual pinto thing!).
Any one want a Westy nosecone ? Only 7 owners, battered and twisted

I measured some nosecone/chassis dims this afternoon -
The Triton nose on my car is set a few mm high due to headlamp brackets. (not very clear but see pic)
Vertical distance from the HIGHEST point on the top of the nosecone's bonnet rebate to the top of the top chassis rail = 197mm approx. It could
be set approx 5mm lower on a different car perhaps.
similar vertical dim. but from the underside of the nosecone = 184mm
Dick, the centreline of my nosecone bracket is 625mm from front of footwell bulkhead, measured along inside of top chassis rail. Sorry I don't
know what it is relative to LC. If you're about to weld brackets in get your nosecone first though!

Also put a deposit on a set of ajustable shocks with 10% discount!
