Camshaft Choice
Can anyone recommend which route to take....ive a 2.0l Pinto in a Tiger Avon. Its 0.5mm o/size on the bores and fitted with bike carbs. My winter
plans are to fit megajolt ignition, a vernier pulley and a camshaft...but which one to choose. Ive looked at Kent cams and i'm down to 3, the
high torque, the mild road or the fast road. Its a road car which may get the odd track day, i think i'll be looking at acceleration
improvements right through the gears and good driveability, i dont want something that comes on at 4000rpm, probably more like 2000. Any constructive
comments welcome also any other cam recommendations other than Kent..

In a car as light as these are you don't really need a lot of torque, personally I would think a fast road cam would be best.

Another +1 for Newman cams. Just fitted a pair of fast road into my 1.8 K series and they came in about £80 less than piper etc. I also did a lot of
reading up on forums and got a lot of very good feedback. I can tell the difference but really need to get it on a RR and have it remapped to get the
best out of them.

all 3 makes are very popular
I went for the piper 285 in mine - slightly higher lift and slightly shorter duration than the kent / newmans ones (not got it running yet
though...)
the engine builder I use likes newmans race ones (he builds stock car engines for a living)

Just go for the FR33, fast road. The loss of low down drievability is virtually unnoticable in a locost.
I had one fitted to mine and it would still quite happily pull from 30mph in 5th if you were in town or traffic.
