1.8 zetec clutch doesn't fit my type 9???

I seem to have a little problem.

I have a 2000 2.0 blacktop and what i assume is a standard 5 speed type 9. I have got a 1.8 flywheel/clutch/pressure plate assembly which i was under the impression was needed to mate the 2 together. I've just offered up the flywheel to the engine, no problems, pressure plate looks to be correct, but the clutch doesn't fit the g/box shaft.

The clutch centre hole is 20mm diameter 17 teeth, but my type 9 shaft is 25mm, does anyone have the correct clutch No:? I'm having difficulty finding the correct item.
Or is my g/box wrong?

thanks

The 1.8 zetec had more than one gearbox fitted depending on what it was in. The only one with the 1" 23 spline centre is the mtx75 found in the early mk1 Mondeo.

Later 1.8 mondeo and foci would have been the ib5 gearbox.

An early 16/18 mondeo clutch will work - i use one in mine
I think a 17 spline is an escort clutch - mondeo is 23,the same as a T9
the pressure plates have the same bolt pattern
If the clutch came with the FW chances are its off an escort
You can pick them up cheap enough off ebay - i bought a motorquip one for £30
