steering wheel; sva requirement
I have a 300mm suede covered 3 spoke steering wheel.
Do SVA require a centre pad, if so what have others done to satisfy the requirement?

My centre was not covered and passed ok. All he checked was edges.

Not sure if its a requirement, but he took his dome shape to it to look at edges, so he definitely had a close look at it.

Make a pad out of inch thick dense foam and stick it to the centre of the wheel. At least that way you'll not fal foul of the SVA man either
way.
I also think that if you present a car that exceeds SVA standards and looks like you've made some effort and put a bit of thought into it, there
may be a bit of leniency when the testers own judgement and interpretation is required for some parts of the test.

I used aftermarket wheel. Centre wasnt padded. Used dome headed bolts and ensured the spokes had correct spec rads (SVA man did check them). Also had
to use collapsable boss.
The reason most use OE wheel is that they are type approved. Hence having to use collapsable boss with aftermarket wheel.
Only 3 bolts - does this suggest you have it fastened to a QR boss? Some places dont like them (Gosforth said no when i asked 3 years ago).

you might like to consider using the standard sierra wheel purely for sva as the bigger the steering wheel the bigger the exempt zone
