Call think auto and just get a threaded adapter and cut down to suit...

Should the fuel pressure regulator not bolt onto that end of the fuel rail? to supply the return hose connector

For the hose adaptor i'd look in the yellow pages for pnumatics supplier (or however its spelt)

It should deffinitely have the regulator there otherwise you will get no pressure to the injectors

There isnt a fuel return on the st170, it has some clever pump that turns off and on to maintain the pressure. The pressure sensor I believe bolts onto the end of the st170 fuel rail, the hole in the picture. This setup is no use as I need a return to the tank from the rail. So a nozzle is attached then this allows fuel hose to be attached to the end of the rail. You can then have a seperate reg from the rail and finally the return to swirl pot.

The bit that bolts onto the fuel rail on the standard Zetec is the pressure regulator which in turn has an outlet for the return if you don't have this then there will be no pressure in the fuel rail and your engine will just about tick over at best as there will be no pressure at the injectors.
Are you sure that the pressure sensor that you refer to doesn't have a return? If not just get a standard zetec regulator as that will give you the return and the regulator.
My archive has a photo of my dressed manifold with the regulator on the left end (pictures not brilliant)

Keith, Steve is correct in the way it works. The latest generation of cars have a returnless system with a modulating fuel pump to maintain the correct pressure in the rail. It's been developed to reduce cost and emmissions .

Steve, I have modified a ST170 fuel rail in a similar way to the pictures you have shown. I used an airline fitting with an 8mm push on tail. Have a look at the Machine Mart catalogue for inspiration

In the end I used a Ford probe regulator on the end of the fuel rail. It doesnt fit as standard. The reg is a tiny bit biggar. I filed it down and drilled new fixing holes and it works a treat. I used the O ring from the removed pressure sensor. There is no hint of a leak but I will keep a very close eye on it initially.
