Probably thick question on 7 " headlights

The 7 inch black headlight units as sold by a few companies such as Robinhood and boltonbits via Ebay, are they both meant to be the same light assembly either Offside or Nearside.

Just wondering if the dip patterns are meant to be different.

I am sure when others have been showing pictures and asking OK for SVA/IVA? someone generally mentions the lights are both the same!!!

Please explain

TIA

Adrian

Both are the same.
Tey either dip ( aim) to the left or right, appropriate to which country you are in

I had to "rotate" the lens a bit to get it through the SVA as beam pattern was dipping wrong way.

Scot's do it better in Kilts.

Mine seem to be dipping the wrong way also, the only way to rotate would be to cut extra slots in the holder, I have tried to search the markings and have not found any information on the glass to determine if they are correct or not.

It would be annoying to find at this stage they are meant for drive on right (LHD).

I used these
http://www.classic-car-accessories.co.uk/acatalog/Headlamps.html

but the chrome is very thin and spotted within 12 months. The beam pattern was excellent and have now been passed onto another builder for his SVA.

I now have these which are excellent

If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

Thanks for the link Mark,

the chrome 7's are very similar to my 7 black ones. I need to set up on flat ground in the dark I think to see what the situation is properly

Cheers all

Adrian

All UK Spec lenses will have an arrow moulded into the lens face, if you have the lens pointing towards you the arrow will be pointing to the right (so when the light is shining toward the front of the car the dipped beam goes to the left - hope this makes sense!).
If there is no arrow it will either be a EUR dipping beam or a motor bike beam that dipps straight downwards – either of these should fail SVA/IVA. So make sure you have a UK spec lens/reflector.
Near side and off side lenses are the same.
Make sure your headlight body has no sharp points especially a bracket that holds the rim to the body as these often fail due to the radius of the metal parts.

Best wishes Steve @ sVc
