Ignition coil for a Bosch dizzy

If you've seen my thread in the Engine section, you'll know that I've finally got the Bosch electronic distributor working on my X-flow (the dizzy came from a valencia-engined Fiesta).

Now it looks like I will need a different ignition coil as the standard 'points' type isn't suitable.

A few suggestions were made, but the most sensible choice seems to be the coil from a Mk4 Escort. What I need to know is whether this is a ballasted coil (9v) or non-ballasted (12v) - anyone know?

If it is ballasted then I need to fit a ballast resistor - could I run without the startup boost wiring, or would I have problems (I don't feel like mucking around with my loom at this late stage).

cheers,

David
