alternator problems

i have recently rewired my MK Indy using a vicky green loom,since the rewire my batt light is constantly on & the alt does not seem to be charging,i have disconnected the main batt lead at the alt & tested the voltage across the alt terminal & ground & nothing??,i presumed the alternator was fried so bought a replacement but the same problem still exists its a denso alternator from a suzuki swift on a 2.0l zetec blacktop

above is the alternator i have with 3 connections on the back lamp/ignition,dumy ??

any ideas what i have done wrong or whats happening?

have you confirmed that the 12v excitation is getting from the ignition switch to the alternator?
you could also connect a supply directly to the ignition terminal just to check out the alternator is charging.

The connections have to look like this. VG loom won't have a built in ignition live and you must add one.
