Tyre Profile - Tin Top

Hi all.....what's the implications for changing tyre profile from 195/55 to 195/50 on a Focus using same standard wheels and obviously changing all 4 at the same time?
Cheers,
Matt

Increased speedo inacuracy, better accelleration, lower top speed.

You also have to be even more careful not to kerb it.

My personal view is for a daily driver anything below 55 profile is too low --- apart from the ride quality issues too much danger of writing off the wheel rim in the even of the inevitable puncture or just touching a kerb.

I went from 225/55/16 to 245/45/17 on my tintop and found the handling much better and the ride only slightly worse. No-one else can tell the difference though.

... also more pot hole damage, higher fuel use.

Don't forget the spare if you have one.

The large difference in price between 195/55 and 195/50 probably makes it worthwhile. The speedo will over-read 3.3% more than it already does and there may be a small fuel consumption hit.
