Now that's quiet!

Just noticed on the Total Kitcar website that the Netherlands now have an IVA equivalent - which is good.

However, apparently the static noise test limit is 74dB - which is going to be tough to get under.

I really can't see the point of having the limit that low unless you are either going to enforce it after the test too or you just don't want any self builds on the road.

As with my own place of residence (Quebec, Canada), I'm betting on the latter - for different reasons. But of course, the noise test will be determined by the placement of the probe and the revs.

Come on you guys, can't we all just fall in line, and buy a Ford? They are going to offer 9 different colours on the new Fiestas we're finally getting in Canada. Imagine the creativity you can express choosing amongst them!

I thought Quebec was the home of the "Free Thinkers", is there a problem in the Province of Prime Ministers?

Anyone know what the noise limit is for a new production car? I suspect that it will be the same.

If so then kit cars just have to be as quiet as a regular car - boring, but maybe not unreasonable?

i suspect that its 74db at idle which you should easily manage. mine at idle was around 65db and 106db at 2/3 chatt prior to sorting it for iva
