Motorsport and Life Insurance

Does anyone know if Sprinting/Hillclimbing counts as 'motor racing' or 'auto racing' as some insurers call it, in regard to life insurance.
If it does how do you guys who do actually circuit race get on with life insurance (for mortgages etc.) do they just load the premium or do you have to use specialist insurers.

Premiums will generally get loaded with any of the so called dangerous activities - motorsport, caving, skydiving etc. When i raced, my premiums didnt go up too excessively though really - life assurance is generally fairly cheap. Critical illness is much dearer but not loaded through the dangerous sports. Approx 5 times more likely to claim on CI though.

Insurance

HI,

You need to write to your insurers and they will send you a motorsport questionare to fill in and send back. They will then take a view on it and inform you of any changes.

I have been through the same thing recently and neither of mine were loaded in the end. Just be clear about what your doing, if you only intend to do a handfull of sprints a year then tell them that.

Regards

James
