I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered.

Wow, that was a close call. Guessing the porsche must have lost the rear end as he went over the crest

Things like this always remind me how vulnerable we all are in our cars

Love the way the passenger grabs his wrist when he is just gathering it all back up

to be fair,... good effort on part of the megabusa driver,... and the passenger didn't let go of her phone for the entire time,...!

That looked expensive.

I bet the porsche driver was happy he did not hot the busa.

conversations get a little awkward and heated when vehicles hot each other at the ring.

Track days ARE the best thing since sliced bread, until I get a supercharger that is!

Please read my ring story:

Lucky escape for the kit driver, and the Porsche cockpit looked intact too...

One observation though, is it wise to be clad in shorts for a track day? I would have thought additional protection would be a good idea if not a requirement??

Close shave for both cars

Is there a track protocol on stopping/not stopping after an incident like that?

I can imagine you might be briefed to not stop under any circumstance, just to keep going until you reach the end and then report the incident.

Is the track fully CCTV'd?

Amazing the Porsche stayed upright, very lucky for all concerned, it looked like his engine blew up on the overtake locking the rears, heavily smoking on the grass.

She looks like she's possible an instructor as she seems to gesture to him to carry on. Grabs his arm incase she has to make him pull round or just controlling the situation.

I doubt an instructor is going to be holding a phone in one hand like that....

Also you are meant to stop (safely) in the event of an accident. Remember on public days this is a public road and subject to German Road Traffic Law.

If you watch the video on youtube, the driver (Italian) posted some explanation as to why he didn't stop (track protocol is to NOT stop on the track, you could be causing a bigger accident), and why his girlfriend grabbed his hands (she was scared). Bet he uttered a few "Mamma Mia's" though!

Its not a trackday, you don't even have to wear a helmet.

Have a look here on whether you should stop on the 'ring;

http://www.carthrottle.com/neardeath-footage-proves-why-you-must-never-park-on-the-nurburgring/

Personally I would treat it like a motorway, and only stop for a really really good reason...

(Interestingly, the link to the spinning Porsche is linked from that page as well!!)
