i heard that trailers now have to have test if home made???
just because you are a character, doesnt mean you have character....
for all your bespoke parts, ali welding, waterjet, laser, folding, turning, milling, composite work, spraying, anodising and cad drawing....

My trailer was made about 10 years ago by Alko I am just re bodying it

i too was thinking that if i got the flux capacitor working i could make mine in the past.....

Yep thought about that myself, I guess you should source the parts and get building now so you finish before 2012 (the axles may have a manufactures
date on them ect...).. I would guess the insurance companies might get good at spotting one built after 2012 if you need to claim (if they can prove
it that is).

Trailers
I built a trailer from an Alko caravan chassis i bought on e-bay for £80. I welded some box section onto the chassis rails and bought some steel
chequered plate and welded that to the box section. Total outlay was in the £300 pound bracket.
A mate of mine bought a Brian James Minno and paid about 1k for it.
The only thing i would recommend with a single axle set up would be to move the axle further forward, as most caravan chassis the axle is set quite
far back. I would do this to lessen the nose weight as at the moment it is nose heavy. Alko axles bolt to the galvanized chassis and can be easily
re-located, even widened with not too much effort.

Ive not made a trailer, but mine is a DIY built affair.
- Most of the chasisis is 2inch angle, 2*3inch c section for the drawbar, and then some 3/4inch for the superstructer. Full floored in 18mm ply. Body
in thin plastic coated steel.
Ive also bought a trailer very simular in build to owelly's for the uni motorclub. Bit tatty, not galv, one duff tyre, £450.

Though it makes no financial sense to build one using all new parts IMO. Better to refurbish an old one or 'convert' a caravan.

I built the traile rto be as light as possible. I got it hot galv dipped for £75.
Unfortunately, I then fitted an Atlas axle to the car so it was too wide to fit on....... I adapted it for my boat instead!

Thats my issue with it.
The problem with the build dairy is, for £900, you could get a really fairly nice trailer. Infact, thats what i paid for mine, a 12ft * 6ft * 4ft
covered box trailer, second hand from someone on WSCC which was apparently originally built by jenvey for there car. I look at it and think about how
i would have done it differently. But for £900 i dont thing i could come close even for the steel work flooring let alone running gear.
If you have a special need for it, like as in the blog, a smallish car and garage with need to get past it, fine. But for a joe-blow runabout i would
just be straight on ebay/pistonheads/raced&rallied looking for a second hand trailer. Someones got to make them, but it doent have to be you
unless you want to.
Nice trailer by the way sorens, very similar superstructure and dimensions to my own.

Here's some pics of the ones dad and I have just finished, a 1300kg gross single axle and a 2000kg gross twin, both based on alko chassis'
and topped by some galvanised pressed steel sections we had made. A lot of work if you're going to do it properly but worth it IMO.
