1996 MGF what coolant?
hi
I bought some weeks ago an old MGF and want to change the refrigerantion liquid, but in the manual appears a UNIPART reference that does not exist
anymore.
so, as the coolants I see here in Portugal didn't mention the specifications of MG/Rover by that time (Unipart Superplus 3 Anti-freeze and
Summer Coolant) or at least other brand that meet the specifications BS6580 and BS5117, could anyone help me with this matter, as the cooling system
in this particular car is very crucial?
many thanks in advance

Unless the system has been changed over to pink/red/orange. OAT coolant. any conventional blue/green antifreeze coolant at 50 percent mix is the
recommended concentration but anywhere from 33 to 60 percent will be OK.
Changing to long life OAT coolant requires a flush out using a citric acid based cooling system cleanser and isn't orth the effort.

BT I thought MG/Rover switched to OAT coolant in the early 2000's?

Factory only switched in 2003 exact date depended on model 75s changed earlier than the 25 and 45 some cars were changed over by dealers if they got
an engine change. An MGF would normally be before that date but a lot of TFs would be on OAT.
