yes indeed, check your fuel hose as the man said not so long ago......
With the volvo being ill, I boooked the landy for an MOT so reversed up the drive to do a pre-test check.
Walking around I nioticed black liquid on the offside chassis rail, hmmm ... oil filter leaking?
Lifting the bonnet it turned out that not one but two of the braided petrol hoses were producing little fountains of petrol so rapidly turned off the
engine. The muck on the chassis was the petrol disolving the underseal.
So there you go, never though it would happen.
The two leaking hoses were the ones directly over the cylinder heads so presumably were cooked over time.
The braided hose was purchased about 12 years ago from VWP and all of itis going to be replaced by good old black hose.

I checked the hoses on my car a few weeks back and when i touched the one from the tank to red top pump it was wet and dripping fuel.It was totally
rotten when i removed it but other sections were still like new.I ended up changing all the suspect parts also, it was about 5 years old.

12 years!! i would be buying some more of that if it truely lasts that long

I'm surprised it failed so soon .... but then I guess half the cars on the road are less than 5 years old.

the braided hose onto the carb on my 106 went at ~90k (14 years old)
I found it before it was any more than just damp - but I it wont be at the same pressure as an EFI system
mine got a bit of john deere fuel hose which I assume is still on it....

Just found a leak in the steel part of my hoses, replaced all the flexi's over the winter, typical  as its a proper pita to get to too.

I purchased some braided fuel hose off ebay that looked great. Fitted it then every time I went in the garage it smelt of petrol. The cheap sh*t off
ebay was the culprit
