VOSA and Viento Pedal Box

Does anyone know if the out of the box pedal box for the Viento is VOSA compliant? I know brake balance needs to locked but don't know if under VOSA how this needs to be shown- (welded or pinned etc)
I want to check this before I submit it next few weeks.

If anyone has any other VOSA tips please let me have them- I have the manual but also a reading deficit disorder.....

Thanks

Phil

Hi Phil

I fitted a nut on the RHS of the balance bar assembly which I drilled through the bar and pinned with a scroll pin. I fitted a pair of locknuts on the other end. Went through SVA OK (note SVA, I don't know if the IVA requirements are different...)

As I understand it the inspector will just want to see that the balance cannot be adjusted further to the rear once set up.

I just took all the locking stuff off a few weekends back and fitted a proper adjuster - I'll look on the bench tonight to see if I can put my hands on the drilled nut, locknuts and the scroll pin - if I can they're yours to use if you need them.

Cheers
Simon

You're in luck, the regs have just changed, until the week before last you had to weld up the adjuster. The new regs are very similar to the old SVA regs in that the adjuster has to be "rendered inoperable by mechanical means" which most interpret to be drilled and locked with a roll pin. But you also need a sticker with exact standard wording (which I do not have a copy of) along the lines of "adjusting brake balance while in motion may breach vehicle construction and use regs" or something like. I'm getting a sticker from MNR with the exact wording.

Also, OT but one rule change means anything inside of a hypothetical box formed by your front upper and lower wishbones is exempt from radius testing, meaning no more covers on shock platforms etc etc

Came out on 25/06/10, good news for us lot

There seems to be a lot of technical ammendments happening at the moment and whilst I went to IVA 2 weeks ago with Gav I am less sure about the fine detail than I was.
We could do with a pinned but updatable link to the latest known manual and a list of amendments with date.

Here you go

Adjusting front/rear brake bias may invalidate approval and breach Construction and Use requirements.
