Puma engine ultimate road cams

Pair of new, boxed bpr285 cams for the 1.7 ford puma engine.
Described as "ultimate road"
Had them squirreled away for a possible future hillclimb project, but now a working central heating/hot water boiler seems more pressing.
My sad times your gain.
Retail £520ish
I'll listen to any offers.
Near Wakefield, Cash and collect proffered but will post.
Regards
CM

My engine is running 42mm TBs and a 2.25" 4-2-1 exhaust (running omex so will need remap I know), do I need anything else if I put these cams in (HD valve Springs, ARP rod bolts, porting etc. ?)

Thanks

Puma

Hi,
Spoke to Piper (I use them quite a bit having a few cars and working on stuff for other people), they recommend springs.
This will depend on how far you decide to rev it! I would set the rev limit lower and not be as worried (I would sooner miss the last few hp and have an engine that lasts until I move the car on and onto another project - I like to build things once to last!).
Bottom end will be fine then too.
If you think you want to use 8500 rpm then maybe the budget route isn't ideal!

I would fit an exhaust vernier, (inlet is the VVT)... will pick you up some extra power by getting timing exact.

That's it... You might need some shims but they are pennies from Ford, and I'd fit new gaskets while I was in!

Really sad I don't have a car for a Puma project - if I ever build another Hillclimb car 100% that's what's going in!

Regards
Nik

That's really generous Prawnabie: but with a historic midget, locost racer and supercharged mx5 track car my toy box is way full... And they all need work for this year still! That's why I'm selling shelf stock to pay for stuff that needs doing in the new house (everything)...

Many thanks, will have a think but looks like more of a job to fit that just putting them in if I want to make full use of the Rev range.

No problem, to the scrap yard it goes!

Good luck with the sale!

Hi,
I am just listing what they say on the box... But they came with one of the two shawspeed demo cars which I bought... And that had a 1600 sigma in it. They told me they were for that engine so I suspect so! Call to piper or Burton maybe will confirm?
