Anybody into MP3s

I have an album on MP3 format.

It is saved as one large MP3.

When I burn it to CD as a CD using nero it comes out as one track.

How can I split it back to it's original state? Ideas anyone?

Sound like its been recorded as a single track to MP3. All I can suggest is to rerecord it into seperate MP3 files(tracks) ie MP3 to MP3. What is the record might be able to help.

theres a program called goldwave that i used a while back. it was free IIRC. I used it to mess around with sounds, chop up mp3's + wavs, could even change fequencies and speeds. was quite good fun when I did the sound effects for a local panto...

-oh yes i did!!

Try this little gem:

I've not tried it myself but who knows, it may work.

Yeah from WinMX.com much better than Kazzaa. No adverts. No pop ups every two minutes.... millions of users online... etc much recommended.

Don't want to tell you what the album was for fear of ridicule.... however they did sell absolutely millions and millions of albums.... I prefered the dark hiared one myself. Wasn't much into blonds. Having said that, all four of them look like dodgey porn stars looking back.

if youre using nero!!!

Then it already has a soundtrack splitter in it. transfer the track to the burn window, then double click on it and click on the index's and split tab. let it run thro the track, then put the splits in by clicking where the silent spots are and clicking split. when its done click on split or ok the it will apear in the burn window with how ever many tracks you split it into. Not that i do many of these of course.

you may be able to find a .cue file to go with it, if so you can burn it with fireburner and it will go onto the cd as as an album with all the songs split as they should be.
itll usually have the same file name as the mp3 but is a .cue.

Hi

Some thing worth knowing about mp3s, if you listen to CDs that are continually mixed mainly dance music or some pink floyed (or so I am told) and others.

The mp3 file format does not support gapless play back as it has fixed frame size (unlike ogg). Each file/track is split in to a number of frames witch if the track end haf way through the frame the encoder still puts the rest of the frame there but fills it with no sound. This it what produces the momentary pauses in play back.

However you can work around this by encoding the hole CD as one track and then using a program like audio caterlist to split the lager file in to a number of smaller ones. This splitting process will only occur at the frame breaks (and hence there will be no padding in any of the frames).

If you using this technique to can get virtual gapless play back.

Ninja my hat is off to you.

It was the Abba gold Album but applied to the whole stuff I've downloaded now I've got a broadband connection.

Thanks for the offer. I've now been using that proggy that was mentioned above.

I'll have a look into doing it with nero though now someones mentioned it.

Any of you mp3 collectors got a decent copy of the Tim Deluxe remix of 'Love Story' by Layo and Bushwacka? That's the version with the vocals over the top
