Super Mario
OK, I hope some of you plumber types on here may be able to help me out. My domestic central heating system has developed a loud banging noise when
the boiler initially fires up or closes down. At first I thought it was trapped air in the system, but having checked all the rads and bled them, the
problem still persists.
Slowing the pump speed down has had no effect. The system seems to work fine after the half-dozen or so loud bangs but I'm worried that if I
don't fix it soon, it may well blow one of the joints.
I suspect the pump may be faulty, but don't know for sure.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I had a similar fault with the c/h in my last house apparently it was a loose pipe under the floor. Don't know if you have checked this but
worth a look

Banging or tapping
How loud is it.
My CH bangs quietly on start up and shut down, Its just a pipe that is tight in the joists moving with expansion/contraction.

Could be sludge building up in the boiler. You could try some fernox in it to break it up but it means flushing it.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
