Dalek

Hi,

Anyone here built a Dalek?? I've joined a fabulous forum called Project Dalek and they have so much resources, even for free that this looks like this is my next project hoping to put my 3d printers to good use with it too. Wanting to build one of the bronze modern ones...

Nope not built one, but there is a Guinness World Record "class" for fastest Dalek - a bit of immortality for you if you get your name in!

Not done it myself, but there's a guy on FB built one recently, based on a shortened mobility scooter, if you can find him on FB he might be able to add some tips.

I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/furoreproducts/m.html?_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1

My lecturer had one of these, I took it through the lanes in Brighton with the transmitter behind my back once

For drive, check out the various hoverboard firmware hacks. You can pick up a used hoverboard for about £10, it's almost always the batteries that break.

This was powered by 4 hoverboard motors:

I'm having a clear out at the moment and I've got the parts still if you're interested?

Wasn't there a couple at Stoneleigh a few years ago? I didn't get a chance to look inside but it was certainly maintaining the spirit of home-grown machinery!

I see you're in the North-East of Scotland.
The owner of a cafe in Dufftown has built one.

Cheers, there's actually a couple at them at our local car museum of all places, there all over the place, could be an Invasion!

One is an old style Dalek called Alec, the other, of the type I want to make which is from when Dr Who started up again in 2005. IIRC they are both genuine film props. Both of them use to be on the floor but I think they were probably poked and prodded too much so they ended up put high over the entrance for their own protection. A bit sad really as I liked poking and prodding them to see how they were made. As with all props they are rather crude up close. There use to be a Tardis too but that vanished somewhere...
