OMG - funny thing just happened

Hi All,

I've just been out for a walk and I had to post this picture.

Now bear in mind it's deadly out on the rodas and I have happily watched the snow plough slide on the roundabout.

guess what i saw

Is that not illegally parked?
Not that I've got anything against ANPR vans.

almost looks like its been abandoned - snow on the window / no tire tracks. Try phoning the police and complaining that someone has parked on the pavement and abandoned a vehicle (i've got a vague memory its technically illegal)

Just goes to show the people in charge haven't got a clue what they are doing.

Go back and set it on fire

well the back hatches are open and you can see a camera peeping out the driverside one.

Where are the kids with snowballs when you need them!!

ANPR vans are good, help reduce my insurance premiums and get the chav's off the road! On the other hand, speed camera vans are just a taxation scheme

don't worry they'll soon be so many of them, since they can use any linked CTV camera that they'll track the movements of all vehicles and become average speed cameras, even in towns and cities that have cameras at junctions/roundabouts, the computer will just flag up vehicles it see’s passing between two cameras quicker than if they did the speed limit.

Totally automatic instant fines & many take pictures of the driver already so you can't even claim you weren't the driver

Nah I don't really get it either. If it was a speed camera then yes maybe but it's ANPR so it's catching sh1tbags with no tax or insurance and also the drug runners and weapons carriers who's car registrations have been noted and put on there.
To say that it's pointless because the roads are empty is not true either. For example take this thread where a few people on here have said they've been driving out in the snow. So there are still people going out, the whole countrie's not come to a standstill. Though I'll have it that that's what the media are putting it across as.

Not that true either that is it? You pay your rates so would you not rather have someone doing summat as oppose to sitting on their arses all day because its too cold and snowing.
I'd go with what carpmart said:

Sounds good to me.

i like ANPRs, i got hit by an uninsured driver in may 2007 causing 3k worth of damage to my mini cooper s (whole new passenger side) and i lost all but 1yr of my no claims! ANPR vans are doing a good job!

That said, i 100% would have thrown a snow ball or 10 at the camera for a laugh
