mini so far: update

hi all, i have started working on the mini this afternoon, and just throught i would share my progress.

well i took the bonnet off, then i throught i would take the windscreen out, but i asked my dad how to do it, so he done it but at the the same time he broke it, by accident, so now i need a tinted front windscreen.

then i went to removing the front so i can get to the engine.

one side gone, other side to go. Description

so, now to struggle doing the other side: Description

now time to lift the engine out. Description

so after a few hours work, the front of the mini has gone, and the hardest part was to remove the roller pin from the gearlinkage, which i forgot to take of, and throught why is the engine not coming out.lol

thanks

stuart

hi all, my plans are massive for it but my pockets are not.lol. well to start with i am going to doing all the rust and rot in the whole mini, myself. then once that is done depending if i get a job, which i am currently looking for. i would like to change the engine, to something, which a lot more power. so i am hoping on getting a cheap car, for a donor, for the engine and box and wiring loom, then make a custom subframe and make ,my own rollcage in the car which will tie the whole car, pretty soild. whist upgrading to 4pot cailpers on the front running coil over's as well. but i throught i will take a crack at painting myself as well.

Awesome. Straight six engine tbh

hi all, had a few more hours on the mini tonight. i drained some of the petrol out, not sure i got it all out, but got a good 10litres of gone off petrol. then i made my job to get the exhaust off, and subframe off, so i got the exhaust off and subframe out. then just tidy up a few cuts and see more rust which i did not know was there.lol

where is a pic of my subframe out:

Just wait until you have to remove the rear subframe; unless you are very lucky the bolts that go into the ends of the sills will be seized solid, and if you try to force them out will either snap off, or the captive nuts inside the sill make a bid for freedom!

Not so bad if you have to replace the sills anyway (and if you do, make sure you get proper replacement sills rather than bodging it with "over" sills that sit on top of the rotten ones).

Good luck!
