HEY

No option to vote for Other ?

I don't remember editing any posts in January ?

You could probably track me down if you wanted, I have posted elsewhere in response to locost builders queries and used to be on TOL (where my greatest achievement was getting TOL to change their forum heading).

...but there are a lot of people who post from work, who could have 2 computers - or even 1 computer with 2 browsers open simultaneously!

David,

2 browsers on 1 computer would be unlikely as it'd show up on Chrisw's IP scans and chris has told me this wasn't how he found out as chris said quote: he's too smart for that!

thats not conclusive ned.

I have tested and found that you cant have 2 open windows on this site with diff log ons - one logs out the other.

However, I have access to two PC at home and 3 here...... as could many others.

Surely with 2 PC's - unless you had a different provider for each your IP address would be the same?

ISP's normally own ranges of ip addresses and give them out on this basis. nrmally you won't get the same ip[ address twice. and as you say he could easily have 2 isp's installed and be dialling up to a different one to log in as considerably.

great

I want as many people as poss to think its me, cos you are gonna be SOOO wrong.

I post from two IP addresses - work and home. Work is a fixed IP and home is a semi fixed ip that needs my broadband modem to be off for a day before the old IP is released, and a new one is gathered.

ChrisW could easily check my IP's and will find that work is a constant, and my home one has been the same for months.

Therefore, how would I get a different IP?

and, my name has been up with Con's if we beleive the 'cant be in 2 places at one time' thing with the IP. If I logged on another PC here, it would still issue the same core providers IP.

A question for ChrisW.........

If you dont wanna give it away yet as to real names, whats the first two groups of IP numbers, or the provider of the perp....... that way if we knew it was NTL, demon, telewest, whatever, we could narrow things down by email adresses.......

Thats not quite true ned.

a dialup is dynamic.

my work has a fixed ip.

my home provider (ntl) issues IP on a semi permanent basis.

IP get renewed after a 24 hr lease, in order to get a completly different one, you must power down for 24 hrs or more.

my IP will have been the same for yonks

i'll let you off steve, having reread the MCOB thread you have very real conversations with him.

I suspect the way to find a definate answer is to compile a shortlist of suspects, and see who posts fewer times into the original thread. Even if the culprit stages some conversations with themselves, there will be fewer overall.

One noticable quiet person on the MCOB thread also was the first to suggest that con was trolling. A guilty mind mayhaps?!

It cant be Chris Gibbs or gibbons i think because con started out arguing the other endf of their argument. But jon always was quite friendly with him.

plus, con said at one point that a dude on Wakey (wakefield) council knew him. If thats relevant to anything...

i think its alanB.
