Caliper rebuild question

Hi all,
I am about to rebuild my Cortina calipers,
Should I lubricate the O-ring that goes between the caliper halfs, or does it go in dry? If so, do I use clean brake fluid?
Any other tips welcomed.
Thanks.

I use a light smear of red brake grease - always gets things running smoothly

but NEVER EVER any copper grease, or any other sort of grease.
Red grease excellent, but I would just use brake fluid for the o ring as it doesn't actually move, just needs seating.
