How do you free a seized clutch

I've just gone back to our Ducato camper after it sitting since the turn of the year and the clutch is seized ie it wont engage/disengage on pressing the pedal.
Is there anything I can try to free it off without removing the gearbox??

jack up a drive wheel then put it in 3rd ,start it in gear and rev up the engine (take it up to 70 or so on the speedo). Then jump on the brakes, after a few goes it will break free. Once free slip the clutch a bit to buff the rust off.

I've had to do this many times in the past.

Maybe try starting it in neutral and seeing if the vibration from the running engine is enough to free it off????

Failing that is there an inspection cover / plate?

if so maybe a drift in the cover and bive the flywheel / clutch a tap???

Have you tried to free it off using the starter, with the brakes on?

I think the main thing to remember is if the cars sitting for a while press the clutch every month to avoid it sticking

It's worked for me in the past - obviously if it doesn't free then don't keep the starter on. Starter motors are quite tough - It won't immediately go up in smoke.

I tried all these thing a few years back on my striker, but none of them worked,

the last thing I could think off befor pulling the engine out was, Jack up the car at the front so you can get to the bellhousing, then look for any hole through which you can see the clutch and presure plate (clutch fork hole in my case)

fully press the clutch pedal and keep it pressed (wooden stick did the trick)

Now crawl under the car with a scredriver (flat one) and a small hammer try to put the screwdriver inbetween the clutchplate and the flywheel, tick it with the hammer then turn the crank a few degrees and repeat until you're certian it's not sticking to the flywheel anymore, repeat this for the presure plate, (80% gues that it's stuck to the flywheel and not the presure plate)

let the clutch slip to remove the dust and off you go again. 20 minute job and no risking of breaking something else

grtz Thomas

I've heard - with engine off put it in top or third and try to rock car backwards and forwards with clutch pedal pressed. (It would help to be parked on the level )`
This also works for jammed starters.
