In the legendary style that normally belongs only to Gusterwotsit...

Bollox.

Seriously though, there have been various reasons progress has been lacking, but now I'm not gonna let progress be slowed down too much if we can help it.

But my thanks very much go out to the one and only Mr Mark 'Man Mountain, car roof remover extraordinaire' Harrison otherwise known as Mark H from this forum without whom today wouldn't have progressed even half as well.

Mucho respecto my man.

Rich.

Way to go, Rich!

Don't spare us the gory details, man. How are you squeezing that monster in there? Give us some dirt!

Best,

Pete

Shucks (embarrassed)!

Yes a productive day was had! The Quandt family would have been turning in their grave however! Up there with the Rover sale I would have thought.

Oh yeah... Has anyone else tried angle grinding in a tinder dry barn? We only had one minor fire

Only a chassis design, some seats and and an SVA to go!!

The fire was very very minor and I didn't think it warranted mentioning....

And thank goodness for that!!! I really set myself up for that one...

Seriously, though, your plans must have jelled in order to prompt this flurry of activity, so I am curious. Are you using Jack Collins' chassis plans? [His car looks fantastic with that straight 6, btw] Are you going to be able to use your Beemer running gear? What kind of rear suspension?

Inquiring minds want to know!

Well I've had a good look at Jack's plans and been measuring up and doing comparisons....

I think we will be making a few modifications to it like making it an inch narrower at the rear....

Obviously engine and gearbox will be from the Beemer... Nice 5 speed dogleg box... The rear diff is an LSD and according to Mark is a similar size to a Sierra equivalent which is good.

Rear suspension will possibly be a modified version of the semi trailing arm suspension on the donor utilising the donor hubs...

Not sure about the front at the moment, if we're gonna convert to double wishbone we may need to create some kind of bracket to convert from the Macpherson strut...

A lot of work involved yet, but all possible given a bit of time and patience.

Will keep the board informed no doubt.

Should be a helluva car. I'm an adherent of the "whatever floats your boat" school of car-building, i.e., no purist. Inline sixes are pretty magical (how about that Jaguar-engined Luego!) so maybe for the third car. Second will be a mid-engined Honda or Quad 4. Just kidding of course.

Well we're not claiming it'll be the fastest Locost derivative out there in a straight line and definitely not cornering, but it should still handle well and be pretty punchy. As I've quoted before... that running gear got the 2 tonne Beemer to 60 in 7.2 seconds so it's not exactly gonna be slow.

At the end of the day it will be whatever it is and no more.

I'll love it however it compares to other cars.

Amen to that! Each car has its charms.

It's not so much the engine as the sound....

Mind you, that's a part of the engine....

I'm joking, too. They're probably the automotive equivalent of a mullet haircut, but mine came with the donor so I'll use them, fashion be damned!
