Your not going to believe this!!!

I had a small problem with my Webers (45's) not "snapping shut", and
on closer inspection realised I had a bent throttle spindle. Bummer,
but no big deal. Ordered two from Eurocarb (~£15) each, arrived
yesterday. Lovely.

In the garage last night, realised there was no hole in the spindle
for the pin that locks the accel pump actuating arm (that the return
spring clip to). So phonecall to Eurocarb, guys says, no there all
like that! (Brings back memories!) The manufacurer doesn't drill a
hole in them anymore, you have to drill it yourself! Oh how I
laughed :-(

So, any ideas guys? Not sure I "dare" drill them.

Get the Dremmel out.

Use your original as a template and file a small flat on the spindle where you need to drill. Find something fine to punch it or just mark it where you will be drilling so it doesn't skid off. Could you have tried straightening the old one or was it shot? is it a roll pin or an interference fit, you might have to drill the hole accurately for a good result but a roll pin is more forgiving.

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
