x flow fly wheel
Hi Guys i need some info i have fitted a lightened fly wheel in my x flow it is obviously from a ford engined vehicle but i am not sure which. it has
135 teeth ring gear, but i don,t know if it should be the inertia type starter or pre engaged type, also i would like to know the number of teeth on
the pinion to suit the ring gear. cheers davef.

Dave i have both types of flywheels in garage at home. I can count teeth later but for now.. the pre-engaged teeth are straight cut and the inertia
have a slight angle machined as a start.
I have a spare pre-engaged started btw.

Hi Hornet i should have mentioned my 135 tooth fly wheel is straight cut, which if what you say is correct then it is mated to a pre engaged type
starter. any info you have will be appreciated. ie if your starter pinion mates up to your straight cut fly wheel, plus number of teeth on both items.
by the way i sent you a u2u re engine position. cheers davef.

hi Dave
Counted flywheels.. pre engaged has 135 teeth and 10 on starter (From a 1.6)
Inertia flywheel has 110 teeth (Off a 1.3 don't know if that matters?)

Hi Hornet you are correct, pre engaged type . i managed to get my hands on a second hand one this morning, a bosch. believe it or not i was scanning a
ford manual this morning and it says a total of seven !!!!! different types of starter may be used throughout the xflow range. the mind boggles.
cheers davef.
