2 litre pinto. car or Transit?????

How can i find out (without a strip down) if my 2 litre pinto is from a Transit van or not. I have been told that it 'may' be from a tranny which i'm happy with. Are there any differences?

cheers

2.0 Pinto Transit engines use 1600 Pinto car camshaft, so that would be easy to change before fitting engine into chassis. They also run with low compression pistons. These are still flat topped but are about 50 thou short of the top of the block. Sierras run with 9.2:1 compression whereas Transits are 8.2:1.

van versions of engines tend to be downtuned and make a bit more torque

Transit engine.

If it's like the transit's round here it's probably done a quarter of a million miles and been run without oil or water with two tons of bricks in the back and a wacker plate or two. If I was you I would change the camshaft.

yours, Pete.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
