fuel pump and regulator help

anyone out there know the ideal set up for sending the fuel to the carbs on 2.0 16v engine,i got a fascet pump and a seperate regulator in the pipe line but having some teething probs,the pump ticks away like mad and squirts it out of the regulator when the motor aint running

As long as the pump switches of when you turn the ignition off, whats the problem? assuming you haven't got to much pressure then the pump will slow when the carbs are full.

Fuel pressure reg should be set to 2 to 4 psi for webers. If you have fuel squirting out of the reg, it sounds like it's fugged!
