Camshaft timing

Hi,

Like a lot a few of ya out there i'm dabbling into an engine for the first time. I've just fitted a Kent fr32 to my Pinto head and have got my full valve lift position using a dial guage, same for the piston no.1 set to 108 deg ATDC. My question is does the piston and Valve at full hieght ever meet in stroke cycles, as the piston is now down the chamber at full valve lift? Any advise will be appreciated

Thanx
Steve

I take it the inlet valve is open. This is sounds right.. The valves should be both closed only on the compression stroke.
As the valve is open and the piston is at the bottom i would imagine it is setup to the induction stroke

The piston and valve should never contact...

Have you used an adjustable cam pulley or the original one from the old cam. If the valves and pistons come into contact it could be very expensive. Turn the engine over by hand a few times with the plugs out if you are unsure.

yours, Pete.

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

webmaster humour??..not funny

As much as there is a wealth of knowledge on this site, i was under the impression that it welcomes beginners in the kitcar world. We all work in different areas and are experts in our pwn fields, i don't appreciate Noobie under my username by the webmaster or who-ever. i think it unfair and a bit boyish for a site such as this. Kindly make amends.
Asking questions is a better approach than pretending to know all only to mess things up, in this case with a car kit i say wise as well.

As Steve G says it's automatic for your first few posts.

If you notice you latest post (your 5th) it's already changed to 'Junior Builder'.

The people above you in this thread who've posted more have 'Senior Builder'.

I've got 'Soft-Southern Jessie' for Chris'sake!!!

If you want it personalised like mine and a few others mail ChrisW (webmaster) and he'll change it.

Or, post on here loads till we know you a little better and he'll come up with something appropriate like Steve Gusterson's!

Lighten up me ole china!

Cheers,

James

Actually, I have been giving SteveO's comments a bit more thought and I think there might be something in this webmaster criticism thingy.

There is no health and safety policy on this site. Any of us could get sore fingers or other truamatic computer injury.

Victimisation - my 1600+ posts get me no more stars than a lesser being like hippy. This is a flagrant peice of favouritism to long haired semi northerners.

There is no equal opportunity policy.

The minimumwage isnt implemented - I have spent hours on here, and what do I get paid....nothing.

Its all about cars! cant you guys talk about anything else! Like, there is more to life than cars.....erm....Ill get back on that one.

Sexism. The site is rife with it. There was recently some really nasty stuff said about the gorgeous talented tracy emin - I hold no truck with this kind of behaviour.

There are no women AT ALL on this site. Is this some kinda gay hangout?

I trust these situations will not persit and be remedied forthwith!

PS

Where ar ethe pictures of the ladies with big titties
