1.6 Pinto

Hi,

I am consideing fitting a 1.6 Pinto engine into my Locost. Is there any problems. For example will it be to tall, adaquate power, take a type 9 box etc.

Thanks

Hey, obviously the Pinto is a taller engine than the usual Crossflow lump so incresing the chassis height by about 1'' is an option but causes problems if fitting GRP bodywork.
Just wondering why you're fitting a Pinto 1.6? Insurance reasons? If it's just because that's the donor's engine then I suggest throwing it in a skip and going for the beefier 2.0. The Pinto's a heavy lump and the standard or economy 1.6 engines wont exactly produce 'exciting' performance! My mate swapped his 1.6 Pinto for a much lighter 1600GT X-flow and the change in acceleration particularly is amazing.
