Rover V8 Clutch
Have read all the posts on here about Rover V8 clutches (cheers WilkingJ for your informative posts yet again) and having read my overhaul manuals I
have finally got round to taking apart my V8 Clutch. i need to get it off to get the engine up on a stand.
Inside I find a bunch of rusty components that to me (having never taken apart a clutch) seem a write off. I don't even have a release lever,
release bearing or a release lever pivot post.
Should I try to source all these parts new, and try and put them together. Or should I go to the local breakers and see if they have a whole assembly
that they can sell me (and then buy a new friction plate). Or are any of my parts good candidates for refurbishment?

Buy new, it's not worth buying a cluch from the breakers, they are not that expensive.

If you buy a clutch kit it should come with pressure plate, disk, release bearing, and an alignment tool.
Have the flywheel resurfaced, take a look at the ring gear for wear, then put it all back together with a new bearing in the crank.
Check the USA sites.

So if I buy a clutch kit I get the Clutch cover and the diaphragm spring as one unit? A quick search on Paddock spares reveals I do. Thats easier
than I thought then.

if you need an allignment tool i made for the rover v8, i can send it to you for you to use but will need it back at some point...
just because you are a character, doesnt mean you have character....
for all your bespoke parts, ali welding, waterjet, laser, folding, turning, milling, composite work, spraying, anodising and cad drawing....

My overhaul manual just mentions cleaning the flywheel rather than having it resurfaced. Is just cleaning exceptable or does it have to be
resurfaced. What does resurfacing entail? Like skimming?

Like skimming, why fill your new clutch disc with rust, will make it very graby (is that a word) until the rust wears off.
