xflow - no engine number. IVA and 1 seat?

I am considering making an ex track-day car road legal; might not be as cost effective as getting something already iva’d but that’s another matter. Car was probably built around 2003. It would end up Q plated. Two questions:

1) The block is a ford 1300 crossflow; casting is normal 711M6015AA which gives an earliest date clue but there is no engine number where it should be so can’t date it exactly. (Ideally I would like it to be pre 75 as emissions are visual only.) What date will it be deemed as?

2) If car is presented for Iva with driver seat only, (battery, handbrake, extinguisher etc) are currently in “passenger” space, will this mean it is restricted to single seat use only?

Many thanks

I also have a 1300 crossflow which has had the block skimmed, removing about half the engine number.
There's not enough of the critical first few digits to be sure what they are.
I'm expecting to have to find another for IVA (if I ever get there!!).

Some people fit a temporary engine for IVA. Andy (Pehwah1) has a nice 1300 which I suspect is being kept for just that reason!

I had the same problem, and just went to the breakers yard, jotted a no down from a scapped escort and used that

I would imagine there are not that many mk1/2 escorts in breakers yards now
