Shock absorbers

Locost, live axle, Cortina front end, 13in wheels

I am now looking at shock absorbers and there are obviously different ideas about lengths.

The car is going to be used for track days. What ride height should I be setting it? Does it run some rake or just parallel to the floor?

Why do some of the shock absorbers have like an extra inch on top? That doesnt look right!

Some ideas about spring rates would help as well. Ford crossflow, T9 box.

If anyone has any 'as new' springs and or dampers I might be interested, but must be excellent condition!!

Thanks

Colin
