Zetec installation.

I am installing a zetec into my Dax Rush.

I haven't got to the engine install yet I am currently doing the wiring loom. Next job will be the engine/gearbox.

The Dax was an unfinished kit and it was originally ordered for a horrible Ford DOHC.

So I have got to (probably) fabricate new engine mounts on the chassis.

Dax have given me the struts that go from the engine to the chassis plates.

I would be grateful for 2 bits of help/advice.

1) Does anyone know how different the engine mounting points are on a DOHC to a zetec? I think there is a difference but it might be that the current chassis mounts will be ok.?

2) Does anyone have any photos of their zetec install generally - ideally also of the engine mounting area to give me some ideas.

best regards and hopeful thanks,

Brian

Ive just made up the engine mounts for my zetec, but they are for a striker chassis. Im not sure what the differences (if any) maybe between zetec and DOHC mounts.

mines a pinto chassis and I know the DOHC chassis is a little different so bare with me here

are the mounts on your chassis angled like mine or are they flat ? (you can just about see them in this pic linky, i'll take a better one later)
most people seem to end up hanging the engine in place with an engine crane and then working out what mounts are needed using card templates etc...

I may be completely wrong, but I have it in my head that the DOHC and zetec chassis are basically the same apart from the zetec needing cut out near the back of the head. the engine mounts might still be different, but it might be worth a call to simon/peter/gary at dax to find out...

I'm sure someone on here or the dax forum did this swap ages ago but I can't remember who

Mine looks like yours.

I think hope) you can get away without the top rail cut out if you use a Burton water rail. I think its the thermostat that uses up space.

In the next few weeks I will hang the engine / box in position and see what surgery is needed.

I'll also go to the Dax open day in september and see if there are any zetec ones there to ogle at.

I beleve the rubbers are from a 3.0 capri, but the steel cups around them are fabricated by dax to help limit the movement from them
