Steel inlet manifold

Hi All., If I make a bike carb inlet manifold for my crossflow out of mild steel will it give a problem with internal rust.

I made mine + others out of steel and had no problems mine has been on for about 5-6 years

Wouldn't engine heat keep them relatively dry most of the time?
