Duratec engine and sump height in a westfield

Hi,

I will be fitting a Duratec in my Westfield this winter and was just wondering how low they sit with a modified sump on them, which sump does Westfield use on their factory Duratec powered cars?. I don't want my sump to be the lowest part on my car but still have the hight restriction of a Westfield bonnet with the standard rocker cover if possible.
Is this achievable? can people share photos of the height of there engine and positioning of there sumps?

Thanks
Mike

Hi

The one that i have in the workshop now Has the sump ( RACELINE ) sat 2" below the chassis. The top of the rocker cover at the front is sat 7 3/4" above the top chassis rails. It has non Westfield engine mount i made to accommodate the super charger, but give or take a few mm it's as Westfield had it set with small amount of clearance between bonnet and rocker cover.
Ideally you'll need 15" wheels fitted to give sump clearance and maintain reasonable front end geometry.

Cheers Matt

I've used a Dunnel sump its 75mm deep and is less in depth than the bottom of my Titan bell housing, it sits an inch below the chassis rail

The mounting height depends on the engine mounting brackets and thickness of mounting rubber

Brackets were from Fastdan on here.

I will also be on a titan bell housing, have you got a picture how they line up on the underside?

big-vee-twin have you also go the part numbers that you used for release bearing, slave cylinder you used?
are you using a st150 flywheel and starter also?

Cheers

I used the Titan 'SAAB type' release bearing and hydraulic slave cylinder, these are not the cheapest option but work very nicely

I have the ST150 engine and used the statndard ST flywheel, I fitted an uprated RS Turbo clutch plate and heavy dury AP Racing pinto friction plate. Because the pressure plate which fits is from a front wheel drive car (standard ST, early Zetec, RS)you need to trim the fingers by 2-3mm to let the guide tube for the release bearing to sit inside them-this goes for cable clutch too

You also need to cut off the guide tube from the front of the T9 gearbox

You will also need a spacer behind the slave to ensure the cylinder meets the clutch fingers- you measure distance to fingers through bell housing take off length of cylinder mine was 12mm.

You also need to make sure there is a layshaft retaining bolt fitted into the pocket in the bell housing as per the pic - Titan don't tell you about this, it stops the layshaft moving forward in the gearbox- a chatostrophic failure at high speed!!
