1.8 cvh engine number location

Afternoon all,

I cannot for the life of me find the engine number. I've tried searching the internet, reading the haynes and cvh rebuilding book but nothing helps.

Does anyone know (or even better have pictures) of where it should be?

1988 1.8 cvh engine from a sierra.

Ta,
C

funny that, I was looking for the same thing on my cvh to no avail.
I have the original chassis number where the last digits are the engine number but can't find it on the engine.

Hi
On mine, it was at carb side of engine towards front. Just behind timing belt casing. You should see a raised block sticking out and the number is on there. It is very faint. I had painted over mine and for iva, I had to show him number to just scraped paint off. This actually made number easier to read since paint stuck in numbers
Hope this helps. Probably not described it best but if you look at engine you may see what I mean

Twin got a picture from the manual confirming the postion of the engine number.
Mine should be hidden under my alternator (as I swapped its position)
