new laptop driving me mad
I bought a new laptop yesterday but have had no end of trouble with it. I've installed Norton antivirus and firefox, but when I try to access
googlemail with forefox Norton won't let me saying the site is unsafe. I've tried uninstalling firefox and I've tried resetting
firefox but it still won't let me in. Chrome works just fine. How do I fix firefox?

In Norton you should be able to add that site as safe, not used Norton for a while as the microsoft free antivirus is pretty good for home use but
most firewalls/av should be able to set sites as checked and ok.

Easiest solution... get rid of Norton...
Microsoft Security Essentials gets very good reviews, and comes as standard.

Time and date are correct, as is the timezone. does that really affect it?

Norton replaced McAffee, which was installed from the shop. It let 21 Trojans in, in the time it took to download norton. Norton hasn't caused
me any problems on my desktop. What's the problem with it?

It's a lot more resource hungry than a lot of other AVs and I've seen loads of PCs where Norton has just randomly broken, blocking
internet access.
If the time isn't set correctly then it can cause a HTTPS certificate to look like its expired.

Cant explain the issue.
Chrome, Opera, or removing Norton are options.
Other thoughts are contacting the supplier?
Where did you buy it?

I'm still using the free version of AVG and it's just been great, works very well with chrome
Can't fault either of them tbh

Thanks everyone. I think Chrome is the solution for now. I'll rethink Norton once the subscription runs out.

Presuming you have Norton 360
• Open Norton
• Click Settings
• Click program rules tab
• If Firefox appears in the list then select “Always Allow” on the drop down.
• If Firefox isn’t in the list select “Add” and find Firefox.exe – then select “Always Allow” on the drop down list.
• Press apply
See if that works

best thing norton ever made is the norton removal tool
i run avast on some and kaspersky on ther rest you can get the latter free if you are a barclays customer
I'd love to give my imaginary friend a great big hug,
but this jacket makes it impossible.

I grew so tired of Windows and its neverending issues that I googled my way into installing Linux in a partition. Windows is still there, but I never
used it again, I run Windows programs using Wine inside Linux. No more viruses, security issues, slow and freezing programs, and other typical Windows
issues. If Microsoft made cars, it would have gone bankrupt long ago... But the easiest thing to do is install AVG or Kapersky and remove Norton
(believe us, Norton and Mcaffee put a big load on your laptop's RAM and makes browsing a test of patience, especially after a few months of
Windows accumulating junk files and errors)

firefox seems to be having a few issues lately - chrome seems to be the answer at the moment
I used to run the free AVG but it started to slow everything down so I switched to Avast and never looked back
